The Series That Started It AllOver twenty years ago, a series was broadcast on BBC Radio which was to change forever the way people thought about Science Fiction, with its characters like Ford Prefect, Marvin the Paranoid Android and Slartibartfast, the fjord designer. These BBC recordings of the radio series scripts are just as funny and fascinating to hear today as they were then. The Collectors' Edition CD boxed set includes not only both radio series, but interviews with the late Douglas Adams and his Guide to the Hitch-Hiker's Guide. |

The Books That Took The Story Around The World |

Those who had listened to the radio series wanted more, and Douglas Adams
rewrote the radio scripts into the form of a novel, "The
Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy". This book became a great
success, selling all round the world, and was followed by two more to
complete the trilogy, "The Restaurant at the End of the
Universe" and "Life, the Universe and Everything".
Since the public's appetite for Hitch-Hiker novels was unappeased,
the trilogy has since expanded to include "So Long and Thanks for
All the Fish" and "Mostly Harmless" You can
still buy all these books individually or in a single volume, as well as
audio versions.

For Arthur Dent, who has only just had his house demolished that morning, this seems already to be more than he can cope with. Sadly, however, the weekend has only just begun, and the Galaxy is a very strange and startling place.

A dive towards the heart of a sun in an unmanned spaceship leads inevitably to a visit to a restaurant situated at the very last moment of Time itself.
