INVITING THE GUIDE TO EVENTS
So you are organising a convention and want the Guide to be there?
Well, here are a few things you should know first:
- The Guide is a huge humorous database run solely by myself since
about 1986, the aims of this database are to raise money for various
charities (usually the charity supported by the convention) and to
entertain people at the conventions I attend.
- I do not get any monetary reward for this, any money raised goes
to the charity and I expect no expenses to be paid to me for this by
the convention.
- You have seen a small sample of the Guide on this homepage but
that is nothing compared to the real thing, with over 900 pages
and loads of sounds and pictures covering every conceivable subject,
with more being added every day.
- At cons, people can browse the Guide, or add new entries, or
even bid for the complete printout which is auctioned for the charity.
- I do like to be offered a free registration for the con (because
I will not see most of it) and a suitable place to put my computers,
and even possibly some assistance from stewards/gophers so I can
have a break now and again. I do try to get friends to help, but at
some cons I do not know many people.
If you are still interested, then please contact me and I will send
you more details. It takes a lot of time for me to obtain holidays
from work, and a lot of preparation for me to bring everything
required, so I do need to know well in advance about the conventions
I attend; and I can only attend about four cons a year, so if you
want me you had better get in touch as soon as possible (a year in
advance is good).
I also have various bits of equipment which you may wish to borrow
for the con (VGA splitters, moving message displays etc), we can
discuss this. You may also like me to advertise your con on this
website and perhaps at any other cons I may attend.
You can e-mail me at realhhgz@zearthling.net or write enclosing a flyer for your con to
